West Yorkshire Brass is a brass band, formed in 1986. Prior to this a number of its members were playing with the West Yorkshire Fire Service Band. However, when that band converted from a brass band to a military band many of the brass players found themselves without a band.

As a result those brass players got together and formed a new band ~ West Yorkshire Brass.

Why West Yorkshire Brass?

All members of the band come from throughout West Yorkshire. From Todmorden to Leeds ~ Keighley to Wakefield. So West Yorkshire Brass is a fitting name.

Over the years membership of the band has increased purely by word of mouth. Most members of the band are ‘ on the wrong side of 40 ‘ with one member 80 + so clearly we are not a youth band! Most of our members have been there, done it and got the T-shirt.

The band plays at a substantial number of concerts each year, throughout West, North and East Yorkshire. We are not a contesting band and are quite happy to rehearse only once a week.

FOR REHEARSAL TIMES & BAND ROOM LOCATION PLEASE SEE OUR VACANCIES PAGE

In addition to the full Brass Band we also have a 10 piece Small Ensemble and a Small Group (Brass Quartet). Both groups are able to provide a full concert program or simply incidental music, mainly for private functions.
