Partnerships within the brass band world are far from uncommon. So it’s not a suprise to inform our followers that our ‘back row’ is finally complete with the addition of Tuba playing Amanda Hansen ~ wife of 1st Baritone player Andy.

The eagle-eyed amongst our followers will realise that the other parnership within the band (Steve and Jayne Galpin) is also a Baritone/Bass Combo.

Is it something Yorkshire Water are adding to their H2O?

After joining West Yorkshire Brass in early 2019, Second Baritone player Rod Goldsworthy has now decided to retire from playing due to ill health.

Rod started playing at the age of eight with the Salvation Army in Dorset. He has played various instruments over many years with the local town band. In 1997 he moved to the Midlands, where he played in the 1st. Section with The Shirley Band. On moving home again he came to Yorkshire in 2004, joining Yorkshire Community Brass, and subsequently the then newly formed BD1 Band, taking part in various contests with them.

CHRISTMAS OF COURSE!

Rehearsals for this years Christmas concerts started last night 22/09/26.

Those of our regular followers will be aware that from time to time a BBb bass player appears amongst our ranks. One who plays a big black, shiny, plastic tuba.

Don’t be surprised at that description! The instrument produces an excellent sound. Especially when in the hands of Mark Riseborough.

Mark is now able to join the band on a permanent basis, having recently changed his employment, making him more readily available.

West Yorkshire Brass welcomes Mark to its ranks.
