ANOTHER RESIGNATION.

Having welcomed Jacqui Mack to the band at the beginning of 2022, with regret we now have to announce her resignation due to illness within her family.

Jacqui would be the first to admit to being the bands novice, never having previously played a brass instrument. And making that status even more difficult by electing to attempt to play the BBb bass. Well done for never giving up!!!

Jacqui – All the best for the future and feel free to stay in touch.

SUMMER 2025 COMES TO AN END

After a hugely successful program of summer concerts including at our annual venues in Scarborough, Sewerby and Filey, it’s now time to focus on winter. Not forgetting Christmas will soon be upon us. And providing me with another opportunity to focus on trying to find out who ‘Yonder Peasant’ is!

RETIRING AFTER 20 YEARS WITH W. Y. BRASS

Having joined the band in 2005 Wilf McDonald has retired due to health reasons.

Between the early 1950s and 1962, Wilf played with the Bradford Victoria Band.

In 1962 he joined the Bradford City Police and began playing with the force Military Band. Upon Police amalgamations in 1974 the Bradford City and Leeds City Police Bands joined together initially as a military band and then subsequently as a brass band. Wilf played with the Force Band until 2005.

During this time period Wilf has also been involved playing in smaller groups such as swing bands and dance bands. Indeed, Bradford City Police had a 5 piece jazz band called ‘The Concords’. This group was the first live music group to play at the BBC studios in Leeds. They also recorded at the Playhouse Theatre, Manchester for the then lunchtime programme from the BBC studios in Birmingham called ‘Pebble Mill at One’.

Happy retirement Wilf ~ Stay safe.
